Life & Debt / Documentary Film

Life & Debt examines the impact of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank on the Jamaican economy. Loans to the country from these institutions came with special terms, including lifting restrictions on trade, deregulation and privatisation. Instead of improving the social and economic situation in Jamaica, production moved overseas leading to increased unemployment and reduced infrastructure.
